When I realize that I am
nothing,
That is Wisdom.
When I realize that I am everything,
That is Love,
And between these two,
My life moves.
from the Professor Emeritus, Dr. Jay
Keenan (retired):
"You excel as a poet. Without
exaggeration, I liked every one of the poems. I find
them a wonderful blend and balance of imagery and language,
simple, direct, thought provoking, and worthy of re-reading
several times over.
The epigrammatic "Wisdom and Love" is so good
that I wish I had written it.
"Surfin' the Buddha" is a wonderful blend of
visual and words, as are the wind poems.
"Gary the Squirrel" shows a whimsicality that
masks serious concerns and thereby deepens them.
"A Letter for Rachel" takes what seems to be a
personal experience and expresses it in such a way that
Rachel has being in the mind of the reader and somehow she
merges with his own thoughts of beauty and loss.
But of all of this excellence, "Perfectly
Whelmed" is my favorite. It is an outstanding control
of image and wit.
The graphics throughout are
tastefully in support of the text and enhance the reading,
and those that are full page have a Dante-esque quality
about them that makes them hauntingly
disturbing."
